Fort Stewart/HAAF Wives: FREE VIP Dining Club Card
Savannah Menu is offering a free VIP Dining Club Card to local Active Duty Military. You can sign up HERE.
This card is absolutely amazing, if offers discounts from 10-15% off your over all bill to free entrees, desserts, or appetizers at restaurants all around the Savannah area. You can check out participating restaurants HERE. I was really excited to see Spankys, La Nopalera in Richmond Hill, and so many restaurants that I enjoy already on the list.
The card needs to be in the name of the Service Member, but Spouses can order their own card for $10. You can either pick up the card at the Savannah Menu office or have it mailed via USPS for $1.48. Trust me when I say this card is worth every penny. If you eat out just once a week at one of these restaurants, you're looking at a $300 a year savings.
REMINDER: Tip the total BEFORE discount was applied.

I don't think this is a good deal
Right now at ShopAtHome you can get toothpaste for free... or so it appears. Toothpaste is one of the items that you can get for free rather frequently with coupons. You should never pay more than $.50 for a tube of toothpaste once you start couponing/stockpiling. It might take you a few months to get into the swing of the coupon shopping style, but it's worth it in the end.
Back to why I wouldn't consider "free" toothpaste a good deal. The fine print is that you pay $1.96 up front, or out of pocket, then 30 days later you are reimbursed $1.96. While in the end it is free, the normal out of pocket cost for toothpaste is much less for couponers.
Something else to consider: You might have to wait until your ShopAtHome account reaches the $20 threshold for you to get a check and get your $1.96 reimbursed. If you do not shop online frequently, or you do and forget to use your ShopAtHome account, it might take a few months for you to see your $1.96 again.
Moral of the story is watch your out of pocket expenses!

Tips of the Trade: Commissary Case Lot Sales
Case Lot sales are an opportunity to buy in bulk without having to pay the warehouse membership fees. But buying in bulk may not always be a good idea. Here are a few tips I've picked up along my couponing journey:
- Unit price - using your price book, can you get the product for cheaper in smaller quantities?
- Will you be able to use it all? No matter how cheap something is, if you can't use it, it's a waste
- Early bird catches the worm - Best selection will be the first day of the case lot sale and early in the morning
- Be prepared. One of my readers found a list for her local case lot sale, she was able to pull her coupons ahead of time and have a list. You can find a list under your local Commissary's "Local Store Information" tab. Some Commissaries may not list the items that will be sold at the Case Lot sale on the internet, but they may have a printed flyer at the customer service desk.
Did you know?
- You can find out when your local Commissary is having a Case Lot sale? Find out HERE.
- You can use coupons at a Case Lot sale! Just check the wording so there isn't any confusion at the cash register.

Saving Money on Formula
Formula is ridiculously expensive. As we're having our second baby in two years, we know all too well the cost of formula. I have found a few ways to save money on the formula my son uses.
Note: Please do not start a debate about breastfeeding vs formula. This is not the place. I am only sharing for those moms who choose to use formula and give them options to save money.
- Sign up for coupons with the company. Enfamil and Similac offer $5 coupon checks that they will mail to you.
- Know price per ounce. Babies R Us offers great prices and deals to their Rewards R Us members. This is when I stock up on formula. (Sign up HERE)
- Know what is in your pantry. Running out formula and having to run out last minute will end up costing you. Keeping a decent stock when prices are low helps avoid last minute runs.
- Don't forget about warehouse stores and online. Sometimes these have the best prices on formula. And Costco takes the coupon checks!
- Share with a friend. If you use one brand and your friend another, trade coupons!
- Ask a friend who doesn't need the coupons they receive for their coupons. It never hurts to ask!
Note: Please do not start a debate about breastfeeding vs formula. This is not the place. I am only sharing for those moms who choose to use formula and give them options to save money.
